Challenge By Design

In this award winning course (originally developed by the National Science Foundation NSF) you will work with a team to design and construct towers, houses, and load bearing bridges with everyday household products, balsa wood, special toothpicks, and the K'NEX building system. Learn what makes a building stand up as you try to survive our live load challenge and high wind tower test. Use our Super Science Truss Busters to discover the hows and whys about shape and structure. Discover the principles involved in engineering truss, suspension, beam, and arch bridge designs as you compete in our live load challenge. This course is constructed to challenge the brightest of minds and the best of hands-on builders. All surviving projects will be taken home.
